The Composer

Emilio Fiaschi (Italian sculptor, 1858-1941)

A charming marble sculpture of a young woman composer holding a lyre, scroll, and stylus.

Fiaschi was a native of the Tuscan town of Volterra, and attended the prestigious Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence from 1883-1885. He was an accomplished sculptor of marble and alabaster and gained a fine reputation in the competitive Florentine art community for his technical skill and mastery of sculptural composition. He was adept at depicting a wide range of textures, not an easy task in the unforgiving and rigid medium of marble and alabaster. Signed. 29" H x 11 1/2" W x 14" D.

For collectors of fine art. ... We are keenly interested in engaging with collectors of fine art who are contemplating a legacy decision and who can envisage what it will mean to have works in their collection remain for the enjoyment of future generations in eastern Maine within the fine art museum at Eagle Hill.
