Online seminars - Our online science seminar series (Link) is ready to list seminars on astronomy. We are looking for astronomers who would enjoy teaching seminars with five 2-hour classes. While we suggest starting out with introductory- and intermediate-level seminars, our series regularly includes advanced seminars. Seminars can be scheduled 1 month after the seminar has been posted, along with an attractive flyer. There is an honorarium.
In-person lectures - Our annual in-person summer lecture series (Link) is also ready to list lectures on astronomy. We are looking for astronomers who would enjoy giving a 1 hour lecture, including time for questions. Lectures are offered for a general audience. Participants who would like to join the astronomer afterwards for dinner, have the option to join them. Lectures can be scheduled 1 week after the lecture has been posted, along with an attractive flyer. These are voluntary opportunities for astronomers who plan on traveling to eastern Maine and for whom the lecture is a pleasant stopover point. We can generally provide overnight accommodations.
Online lectures - We have not yet offered online lectures on any subject, but are amenable to doing so in the field of astronomy. We are looking for astronomers who would enjoy giving a 1 hour lecture, including time for questions. From the experiences of Maine astronomy clubs, it is reasonable to expect that this will play a major role in helping us to build an interest in our Friends of Astronomy group and in our eventual Astronomy Club.
Friends of Astronomy - We are modelling our Friends of Astronomy membership on our very successful Friends of Music membership (Link). With the goal of building a growing interest in the astronomy program, whenever a member comes to an astronomy lecture and opts to stay for dinner afterwards, they are welcome to invite a friend who has never been to a astronomy lecture to join them as their guest at no charge.
Telescope intern - We are looking for 2 friends who would like to intern to learn how to use our 16" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope to develop their own astronomy project. Training is available.
html webpage coder - Our astronomy website is straight html and thus relatively easy to maintain and expand. We would welcome help with this.
