An open letter about the fine art program

To all who might join in envisaging the future of fine art at Eagle Hill,
What will it mean for remote coastal eastern Maine to have a year-round cultural and events center with a fine art museum, library, and a music wing within which performances of chamber concerts can be experienced, where works of art can be experienced and the holdings in the library explored?
Such a "center" will surely be transformative for the region. Now consider what will it mean if the center has a stunning sunset view from the western slope of the only inhabited peninsula summit on the eastern Maine coast, and the only peninsula between Schoodic Point section of Acadia National Park and Petit Manan National Wildlife Refuge.
The precedents for the cultural and events center have been set for many years. Lastly, consider the fact the coastal eastern Maine is a globally favored travel destination.
The Fine Art Collection at Eagle Hill has outgrown the capacity of the Commons Building. There is a broad consensus that the collection is an important part of the overall missions of the Eagle Hill Institute, since it contributes to the cultural setting within which the institute's kindred natural history science missions play out. What is more, it does so by providing endless possibilities for deeply emotional engagement with the art itself and the ever-changing and ever-reimagined relationships between works of art, the programs and ideas generated at the Institute, and the serene natural environment of Eagle Hill. We are now at the moment in time when we are well-positioned boldy to expand our commitment to fine art by way of designing, funding, and constructing a dedicated museum wing for works of art within the planned year-round Cultural and Events Center on the western slope of Eagle Hill.
What is the focus of the fine art collection?
How is the design of the fine art museum wing being envisaged?
How is the fine art program being administered?
There are many ways to support the Fine Art Program.
Membership ... We invite you to join the Friends of Fine Art, an informal group that supports the Fine Art Program with their annual membership dues and active involvement.
Donations ... Donations are much appreciated and much needed. They are promptly acknowledged and are tax deductible under IRS guidelines (Eagle Hill is a nonprofit tax-exempt (501(c)(3) organization).
Volunteering ... Volunteers are playing ever more important roles at the Institute.
I thank you in advance for joining me in my enthusiasm for the emerging shared vision for the Fine Art Program and the progress we are making to it bring closer to the center of the Eagle Hill experience. On a personal note, I always feel deeply moved by the guests and friends I have had the privilege of getting to know during our many years of hosting events. The depth and diversity of their interests and backgrounds are truly amazing.
Please consider yourself asked to support our fundraising campaign. Ever onwards together ...
Respectfully and collaboratively ...

Lastly ... Consider this charming sculpture by Emilio Fiaschi. It delightfully sets the tone for our campaign in a subtle way.
