End of year summary about the world of music at Eagle Hill

After a delightful and deeply-moving 2024 concert season, we are taking precious end-of-year time to consolidate what we have learned from listening to our musicians and our guests by working on re-envisaging how the world of music at Eagle Hill is evolving. We are of course already starting to list concerts for the 2025 season, but what is of special interest is how we are earnestly working on expanding our commitment to the world of music. First and foremost, we are doing so by inviting more formal participation in all aspects of what it takes to orchestrate a successful concert series.

The end of the year is always a time of transition and reflection. During the past few weeks, we have been revising the pitch of our music webpages and have been adding much-needed new webpages. By browsing ... eaglehill.us/music ... You will see that there is much that is new that is worthy of your consideration.

For example, we have changed the focus of our Musicians Advisory Board webpage by recognizing musicians who make special efforts to raise challenging questions, make suggestions and comments, introduce new musicians by performing here with them, and introduce others to help us broaden the support base for the music program. Their efforts deserve to be noticed.

We have also added a Volunteers webpage to recognize those who are making special efforts to help in various ways that make it possible for all of us to enjoy the concerts. Our volunteers suggested that we add a webpage that lists diverse opportunities for those who might like to consider volunteering. What are your special interests and social goals with regard to music?

By way of our new Music Executive Board webpage, we are making it clear that we are seeking engagement with those who have leadership skills who would like to play an administrative oversight role in guiding the future of the music program. They will be stepping in to help make decisions on behalf of a program which is fully self-supporting by way ticket sales and dinners. They will thus be in a position to help decide the extent to which and the ways in which our collective commitment to the world of music can be and should be expanded beyond what we are currently offering.

Our new Donors webpage recognizes that we are working with a global architectural firm which is keenly interested in developing plans for the construction of a multi-mission cultural center on the western slope of Eagle Hill, which will serve as the new home for the music program.

Lastly, a high priority for funding will be adding cooling and humidity controls in the Commons Building so we can more comfortably host concerts and dinners during summer months. This is also important for the care of our piano and harpsichord and the works of art.

Thank you. Joerg-Henner Lotze, Director. joerg@eaglehill.us. 718-715-2824
