Aim and Scope

Archaeology Now (ISSN 2771-2125), as a new journal, at this time welcomes manuscripts on all aspects of circum-North Atlantic archaeology that lend themselves well to being presented in an academically-rigorous photo essay format.

Archaeology Now photo essays pair well with traditional research articles, since these do not support the inclusion of a generous selection of photographs with detailed captions. They can thus provide previews of research articles that have not yet been published or they can provide retrospective highlights of ones that have recently been published.

Photo essays thus serve as an important intermediary publishing format between typical "sketchy" network news reports and research articles. As such, they serve as a bridge to keep archaeologists updated about the research efforts of their colleagues, while also serving as an entry level way of introducing non-archaeologists to the fascinating world of archaeology.
