Published 8 October 2025

Abstract
This short communication details the first report of an Tyto furcata (American Barn Owl) on the east coast of Puerto Rico, which I observed on 27 April 2025 in the municipality of Naguabo. It considers the colonization of the species on the west coast of the island and its subsequent eastward spread due to changes in land use and the introduction of nonnative prey.
