Session Moderator Guidelines
Session moderators are generally the session organizers. Their primary duties are as follows:
- In the first 5 minutes of your session, provide a broad overview of its theme.
- Remind audience members to mute themselves and to hold questions until each speaker is finished.
- Mention that each speaker has 12 minutes with 3 minutes for questions, and that no time extensions are possible, as a courtesy to all presenters and participants.
- Mention that there are 5-minutes at the end for general questions.
- Then, introduce each speaker in sequence (name, job title, affiliation, and title of presentation)
- Keep presenters on schedule.
- If necessary, politely cut off a speaker whose 15 minutes have elapsed.
- In the last 5 minutes, thank all presenters, and invite general questions.
